Just got married in New Orleans and nearly filled the Creole Gardens with guests. It was my third visit there, and I will definitely keep coming back. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome, and Miss Annie took good care of us with breakfast (as usual).

Just got back from NOLA for a conference and I stayed here. While I was waiting for my connecting flight I got a message from someone telling how to get my keys as I was going to be arriving close to midnight. That was nice of them. The place is in a decent neighborhood, but it is a little dilapidated. I can agree with another review that it could use some paint and a little gardening maintance in the front. Stayed in the Bordello house, and had a nice huge window you opened that you step on to your own private balcony and see what is going on the neighborhood. I think there was only one other person in that building with me. One of the guys helping run the place said that is slow because there weren't any festival things. It was pretty quiet. In reading other reviews a few things: The South is much slower, than California, Los Angeles especially, so relax. New Orleans is practicing "green", so though they don't come to your room to change the sheets or towels everyday, they do say that if that is want you want, let them know. They are just trying to conserve and save planet earth. Don't think the establishment cares what color you are there. I saw an interracial couple, a gay couple along with straight folks. Yes there was one cook, but in talking to other folks, this B&B offers hot breakfast as well as continental. More than what those pricey hotels offer. I think that is nothing. It would be nice to have a little refridgerator in the room and maybe a communal microwave in the common area. It is really convenient to the street car (2 blocks) which will take you to Canal and St. Charles so you can get your French Quarter on. I would definitely stay at this place again. Resonable and had one of the best grits in Naw'lins! This is probably the best to real NOLA than staying at corporate hotel.

It's hard not to see the decay of New Orleans in the condition of Creole Gardens. I wasn't expecting a luxury hotel but I was expecting a level of care that one usually finds at smaller inns and guesthouse and that was lacking at Creole Gardens. The Good: 1. we had the penthouse suite in the main house. For the price of our small room in a boutique hotel we had a large suite with sitting area, a small wetbar and frig and a bathroom with a clawfoot tub and shower as well as a little patio. The decor is super charming and just what you would expect from a guest house in New Orleans. High ceilings, iron furniture. 2. It was a short walk to the convention center where the French Spouse had an event for the week and to the rest of the Garden District and right on the cable car line which we didn't actually use. There was also lots of on street parking for our rental car. The Bad: 1. the place is in disrepair in so many ways. From the couch in our sitting area that was covered in stains on both sides of the cushions, the peeling paint INSIDE the house but worst of all was the fact that they seem to have never clean their air filters in air conditioners. If you have any respiratory issues I would not stay here in warm months. Every time the air conditioning was on I would have sinus and breathing issues. This is the main reason we will not stay there again. Just in general this place looks like it has been taken care of in years. 2. there were no do not disturb signs but even though the cleaning staff came in every day, they never cleaned the tub. They would just make up the bed, which we asked them not to do and that was it. 3. The staff seemed to be non existent. There were problems almost every day with the internet being down at times but no matter what time of day there was no one in the office and we had to call the number of the onsite manager who really didn't seem to care about any problems. The only staff we did interact with was a young who seemed way too cool in his skinny pants to bother being even civil let alone helpful. 4. the next big annoyance was there was no cover for the window in the door to the outside deck and we had to put a blanket up to block the light so we could sleep. It's a super cheap and easy fix to hang a curtain there and it looks like there have been other complaints about it. 5. The final annoyance was they charged my credit card for the entire week more than a week in advance with no mention of it when I booked on the phone and after they had already charged me for one day. If you are going to do that COMMUNICATE it to your guests. I thought it was fraud charge at first since we had booked months in advance and I had not been told of the policy. They said it was because it was special week but there was nothing special going on in New Orleans at the time and through out our stay they had rooms available. It's a shame the owners and staff here don't have more pride and care about the upkeep of the place and the comfort of their guests.

I booked this B&B for myself and a co-worker. We were attending a large industry conference at the convention center, and the price savings versus distance was well worth avoiding the larger hotels closer to the CC. And the staff, ambiance, breakfast and even the location made up for the few extra blocks. Annie was the cook then, and it's been a few years, so she may not still be there. Still, she made our stay wonderful, cooking made to order breakfasts, and giving inside tips for places to visit. Also, the St. Charles Streetcar stops very close to the B&B, plus whenver we called a cab it was there within 10 minutes. For dining and pub options, the Over the Avenue Pub is just a few blocks away as well. My room was a bordello room with a private balcony overlooking Prytania Street, while my co-worker had a small cottage room. This place is ideal for couples. The location in the Lower Garden District means it's still fairly close to the Vieux Carre, but also convenient if you want to head Uptown. Try something different instead of the same ol' giant hotel chain.

The Creole Gardens has a lot going for it - good breakfast, helpful kind staff, and its location by the trolley and in a quiet residential neighborhood. Our room was quite basic, but it was very comfortable. The curtains were a little thin for the morning light, and when I complained about it at breakfast, a new layer of curtain was added right away.

I'm giving Creole Gardens three stars based on the location and the breakfast served each morning which was very good. Simple, but good. The location was one block from the St. Charles street car. The neighborhood itself was cute with restaurants and bars nearby. I'm not an expert on Bed and Breakfast's but have stayed in a few. We were there three nights and the room was never cleaned. Maybe this is only customary in hotels, but we were spending $130.00 a night. The least they could have done was pick up our old towels and give us new ones. On the third day I asked for extra towels. They did give them to me, but I overheard them mentioning that it was to be noted in some book. I did not find my request unusual. Should people use the same bath towel three days running? The back patio was private, large and with fountains and could have been so cute...if only it had gotten a much needed painting. I understand painting goes against Creole tradition, but bright colors really need to be maintained or it starts to look very tacky. And this one did. The place seems to be run by aging bohemian types and I did enjoy the laid back feel of the complex, but they need to step up the customer service and cleaning of rooms. I hid a wallet on top of a wardrobe armoire before leaving for dinner. When I grabbed it later it was coated in a thick layer of dust. One interesting note: Directly next to Creole Gardens is a run down home that has a junkyard in back. The guy that lives there must be on staff because I would continually see him walking back and forth. He seemed to be the only one doing work on the grounds. In fact, he was the one that got me the towels. In all honesty, I wouldn't recommend Creole Gardens to my friends, but with a few small changes it really could be a cute place and a must stay.

I submitted this letter to the establishment and thought I'd post a selection from it here: To Creole Gardens, Today I visited your property because I was interested in having a romantic and fun getaway with my boyfriend. I had spent awhile researching properties the evening before, and yours impressed me as lovely and very reasonably priced. Upon entering, I explained that I was interested in renting a room on Sunday and wanted to look around so I could decide for sure. The woman at the desk, immediately asked me what my "price point" was. I assumed she was trying to determine if I was planning to stay in one of the basic rooms or one of the nicer suites. I laughed and said, "As low as possible," meaning that I was interested in one of the basic rooms. She smiled a small smile and said, "Mmm, that's what I thought. This isn't really that kind of place." I was pretty shocked by this interaction. I was surprised that she so quickly decided that I was not a welcome customer. I don't know if it was my dress (casual - jeans and a black, sleeveless top), my age (I'm in my late 20s), or my race (I'm Black), but apparently she'd decided that your property was not the place for me. Rather than saying where their rates started at, she dismissed me. I have to say, if not for the treatment I got at the front desk, I would have happily rented a room and recommended it to my friends and family. One of the things that I like about New Orleans is the service. Typically people are casual and even when they are not prompt and professional, people are friendly. Visiting this otherwise charming establishment, I was both angered and saddened by the treatment I received. ****************** Edited to Add: I submitted this letter through the Creole Gardens website (so perhaps I should have said e-mail?). I'm betting that wasn't typical service, but it's what I received and Yelp averages ratings for a reason.

Some of the nicest people I met in Nawlins were at the Creole Gardens.. stayed in a gorgeous renovated "honeymoon suite" in a sunny pastel yellow room with 15 ft high ceilings, claw foot tub, balcony, and a poster king sized bed. Although they have these "bordello" rooms across the garden courtyard that looked really cool also with their deep red walls and boudoir decor (they actually WERE bordello rooms back in the day so this is as authentic as it gets). Lots of history, yummy southern breakfast and pet friendly too. This was one of my favorite places in NOLA to stay at.

Stayed at the Creole gardens for four nights to visit the second week of Jazz Fest and was not blown away. I was not unhappy, but I was not blown away. As noted in the review by Lanee the staff is super nice, but the rooms were not fantastic. The beds were comfortable but it was a bit loud being right next to Prytania street on the ground floor in the bordello building. Our travel buddies were of in one of the side rooms in the bordello building and complained that it was to dark without any natural light and things smelled a bit damp. The breakfast was good, and the coffee was wonderfully strong, but I don't think it was enough to bring me back for a second visit.

Welcoming staff, decorative creole patio, clawfoot tub, four poster bed, fulfilling breakfast each morning: It was an experience! They have easy access to St. Charles street with restaurants, fastfood and the trolley to Canal street close by. It's a quiet neighborhood, which was nice to come back to after a loud, raucous night on Burbon street. It was also easy to book and they were incredibly friendly, even when I asked to check in at midnight! I will definitely recommend this place!

A beautiful home filled with care and attention. It was a pleasure to stay where we were made to feel welcome and pampered. Our room was large, beautifully decorated, with a large bed and lovely old fashioned bath. Delicious daily, home cooked breakfast. Front office internet access. We couldn't have been happier.

The Creole Gardens is the most unprofessional B&B that I have ever dealt with!! I made a reservation for Jazz Fest weekend with a 45 day cancellation policy. I cancelled well within the 45 days and I have yet to see my security deposit refunded to me. I have called them and emailed them on several occasions to no avail. Their lack of professionalism can only be reflected on the way they run the B&B which gives me great relief that I will not be staying there. I just really hope that they abide by their policy and will be issuing me my refund.

What a fabulous, charming place! We took it over with a group of 35 writers, artists, and musicians, and the hosts were incredibly nice to us as we wandered around barefoot, chatted about tattoos and sex changes, and burst randomly into song. My partner and I swapped out of the ground-floor Cottage 13, colloquially known as "the Jesus room" for all the iconography on the walls, into the upper-floor Cottage 6, with two comfortable beds (a soft one for me, a firm one for my partner--perfect!) and a big airy bathroom with a full tub. The courtyard is breezy and lovely, and big enough that we could still breathe even when the people at the next table were smoking like chimneys. There's free wifi everywhere. John at the front desk is superbly friendly and also has great taste in restaurants. Miss Annie makes the best breakfast in New Orleans, including grits that are more butter than corn; don't miss it, and do say thank you, leave a tip, and clear your plate after you're done! I hear tell that when Katrina hit, Miss Annie stayed and made sure all the guests at the inn were fed. She's a real treasure. We would be glad to stay here again, especially as it's so close to the streetcars on St. Charles.

We got in late at night & rented the PentHouse, it was about 85 or 90 when we got in. I would have thought they would have turned the air on so it would have been cool when we checked in. The room wasn't very clean, I 'll call it very dusty. Walking on the hardwood made the bottoms of my feet dirty. You could see that a lot of attention hadn't been given to the room because the floor boards were dirty, the bathroom wasn't up to par as far as clean either. I realize that this is an old house but if your spending almost 1600.00 for the week, I think it should be very clean! The other problem was that the outside street light made it look like day, when in fact it was the middle of the night. The curtains didn't cover the entire windows & the outside door to the room didn't have anything on it to keep the light out. It was very bright at night, not very good for sleeping! Our credit card was charged about a week in advance of our arrival which was a surprise too!! When I asked the guy I spoke to why this was, there was no real answer. On a positive note, we spent a week at the Creole Gardens and found the staff very friendly & helpful. It's a very eclectic place, with colorful walls & a cute courtyard, where we ate most of our breakfasts. It's a great location in the Garden District, very close to the trolly where you can go downtown or uptown. I think this could be a very nice place if some attention to details were given. We will be back to New Orleans next year but will have to find a different, cleaner place to stay -:(

We had a wonderful time here. Everyone was so sweet, and the environment was incredible. We wanted an in with character, good location and a home feeling that liked dogs. We got everything! The main building is stunning with great artwork. Our room cottage 5 was sweet and simple with mint green walls. With the AC on it felt like sleeping in yummy mint chip icecream. Breakfast was great, and the owner informed us about new Orleans and jazz, good places to eat, and actually serenaded our pup with some old blues tunes along with his guitar. If you have a dog, this place is perfect. It is a block away from coliseum park where they can run and play, and only a short drive to magazine street where you can get great food. Also only a block from the trolly line to the French quarter. We will be back for sure! Next time we're going to get a mansion room, beautiful!! Much love.- Lauren, chris, and leelu

All I have to say is Ms. Annie's weekend breakfast is reason enough for five stars! Granted, this is not the place if you expect everything to be "perfect" or to be waited on hand and foot. The paint is a bit old, but our room was clean, folks were nice, and it is perfectly located for either walking uptown or into the Quarter. A genuine slice of New Orleans.

I love local, family owned B&Bs for many reasons and Creole Gardens provides all of them. The rooms are themed (from plantation to bordello, pick your style), very clean, air-conditioned and a number of them open to a charming courtyard with a fountain. They also offer free wi-fi and bike rentals. (The cost of bike rentals is equal to the two other locations in town where you can rent a bike, $25/day.) St. Charles street, street cars and many good eateries are only one block away. Ms. Annie cooks a mean breakfast and we were lucky to try the creole hash. Everyone who works there are friendly and helpful making you feel immediately at home. At breakfast, the owner joined us at our table, with his guitar, telling us about Dave Bartholomew, singing a few of his songs and recounting a bit of New Orleans music history. He pointed us to a few good local spots like Plan B, a DIY bike shop. I can go on and on... if I visit New Orleans again, I will definitely stay at Creole Gardens and highly recommend it.

We loved, loved, loved our stay. Our room was comfortable, cozy and funky all at once - nicely decorated - creepy almost with all the religious stuff, but this added to the unique experience that is Creole Gardens. The staff was very helpful and friendly, especially Madeline and John. They patiently answered all our questions and gave us directions and excellent recommendations. The seafood restaurant they recommended, Deanie's, was one of the best meals we have had. Ever. And we are foodies. They were also very nice to our dog, Luna. We got there the day after New Orleans and the only leftover evidence from the mayhem of the previous night were the beads that Luna got to wear to go walking to the dog park - which is REALLY nice and a couple of blocks away. The train to go to the quarter is also a block away. Really, you can't lose. Great decor, staff, location, BREAKFAST and more.

First, Let me start with the good things!! Annie the breakfast goddess was great and the location was very close to the trolley which made getting around very easy. I found the Creole Gardens online and then went on to call the number listed .The owner promptly answered and went on to tell me the pricing I viewed was incorrect, of course the price quickly went up! The room was basic to say the least which was not an issue. But for $200 + a night I did assume that someone would empty the garbage and clean the toilet, to say the the least (I never saw anything on their web site that said cleaning was not included!) The towels were what I would except to be handed out during a prison tour! Nice people don't make up for over priced, poor product! Skip it!!

we were hoping to get a more down home experience when we decided to book this place, but ultimately this place fell well below expectations. it seemed like there was only ever 1 staff there at a time so service was slow. the room was not cleaned when we arrived, so we sat in the dining room for half an hour while the lady we checked us in went to turn it over. the room was fine, but nothing special. we never got around to getting breakfast because it was always busy and the cook served one table at a time... though honestly, it didn't look that good anyway. all in all, we didn't get the plantation we were promised and regretted booking there.

We decided to stay here again for Mardi Gras and our experience was great! We stayed in the cottages this time, and I absolutely loved the decor and charm of the room! Nothing was really different about this experience than the last, other than my view of things. After reflecting back on our past trip and comparing the two, I realized that glitz and glamour is not what makes the creole garden special. Rather, it is the funky plain but truthful decor, the wonderful vibe, the awesome staff, the GREAT breakfast, and that good ole southern comfort! You can't duplicate the experience here because its unique within itself and thats what i failed to realize on the first vist. Word of caution- if you're looking for a five star hotel or an upscale swank b&b this is not the place. But if you're seeking something a little more personable, a little more homey, a true new orleans experience with great food...this is it! John, Annie and the other young lady were GREAT!!! And we even got a chance to meet the owner! She was very pleasant! I will come back here time and time again! You should too!

My wife and I stayed at Creole Gardens from March 17th, 2014 until March 21st, 2014. For two adults and a small 30lb puppy for four nights, the total cost was around $520.00, w/o tip. Overall, we would stay here again and recommend it to our friends and family. The staff: Keith and Annie were very helpful friendly, and knowledgeable. Whenever we asked them about places to eat or drink they always were eager to help us find a place that suited us. Keith even offered to call and book us a swampboat tour. The breakfast: The breakfast was great; usually eggs cooked perfectly to order and some form of breakfast meat like crisp bacon or spicy sausages. They also had the usual fair; yogurt, toast, bagels and pastries. Location: Walking distance to at least half a dozen pubs and restaurants. One block from a trolley stop with a line to the French Quarter. Within walking distance to four museums (that I can recall). Accommodations/Decor: The decor was quaint. As some other reviews have called it shabby chic. We were in Cottage 2 which had plenty of space for our luggage and also a crate for our puppy to sleep in. The bed was large, comfy and clean and the bathroom was clean and spacious. The A/C and Heat worked well and kept us comfortably throughout the night. NOTE: the maids will not service the room if you have a pet unless asked, as to not disturb the pet during the day.

The rooms still need some work as others have mentioned, but it's generally clean and safe. They're going for a 'shabby chic'/Caribbean feel--it works, but it's a little run down in some places (hence the 4 out of 5 stars). The staff is top-notch: friendly and very helpful. Keith, as others have mentioned, was fantastic both in terms of spending the time to tell us about the local area as well as moving us when were disappointed with our initial room (the door didn't really close all the way and the bathroom door had glass panels covered by a thin curtain--not enough privacy). He also gave us an extended check out. The breakfast was great--included cold options like fruit, yogurt, cinnamon rolls as well as cooked: eggs, bacon, and pan fried potatoes. Anna cooked my eggs to a perfect over easy both days--just like I asked. Location is good--easy to get to the quarter via the St. Charles streetcar and within easy walk of Magazine. All-in-all a good experience at the price point we wanted. I'd stay here again.

Dog owners dream place! If you're looking for a modern, traditional hotel, this is NOT for you. If you want a comfortable, dog-friendly place full of New Orleans character, you will LOVE it! The b&b is gated and there is a nice courtyard where well-behaved dogs can walk. One block away is a wonderful off-leash park with a fountain where your dogs can play. There are many restaurants only one block away on St Charles. The staff is friendly and courteous. I highly recommend this b&b!

Love this place! Friendly staff, very welcoming. Annie fixes a wonderful southern breakfast every morning. My Florida raised husband was thrilled for real southern grits with his eggs. We had an issue with too much light coming in the sheer curtains the first night and they had them changed within minutes. Fantastic location. 1 block from St. Charles and many food options as well as the street car. We tried everything from Voodoo BBQ to The Irish House to even Delmonico (it was our anniversary!). Get away from the chains and meet the locals. Take a walk in a real nieghborhood. You won't regret it!

We were traveling on our way from Tucson Arizona to Raleigh North Carolina and we stopped in for a day to stay on New Orleans. Words cannot describe how happy I was to stay here. Since we were relocating, we had our two dogs with us. They were really dog friendly and the dog park was close by. The room that we stayed in was a cottage on the second floor. Small and cozy, the bathroom was huge and the floorings were perfect for the dogs. Our doggies loved it there. The staff was really nice and we even ate on the porch on the swing. The downtown was close by. We took the streetcar from a block away to canal at. And on the way back we uber from bourbon street for $5-6, which was great. Great location for everything!! I know for a fact that I will be coming back here to stay here again.

What a fantastic place to stay. I thought the free breakfast was going to be some cereal and pastries. It was cooked-to-order eggs and corned beef hash with toast and fresh fruit salad and a million other things, and strawberry sorbet for dessert, in the light-filled front room with fresh flowers on the tables and white tablecloths. I was blown away. I loved our room, I loved the staff, I loved the colors. It was a dream-- thank you Creole Gardens!

Came to the Creole Gardens for our honeymoon and it was a delight. The owner and everyone who works there is so helpful and sweet. We arrived before check-in and they let us keep our bags behind the front desk while we went out and about until time to check-in. The room was spotless, but if you're looking for something more modern this wouldn't be your style. I see someone said shabby chic and I completely agree. It had just about anything we needed though. They do not do a full cleaning every day, just really reload toliet paper and change out towels if you leave them on the ground. They also make up the bed. The breakfast is very simple and good. The week we were there, there were pancakes, eggs and bacon that they make to order. There are some pastries, bagels, fruit and yogurt on a buffet. There's also coffee but don't wait until the end of breakfast because we ended up missing the coffee twice! On the day we were leaving, they once again let us leave our bags behind the front desk while we adventured some more during the day. Then, when we were ready to leave (we were moving to a hotel in Gretna because they did up the rate for Halloween and we couldn't afford it), they called us a cab and started telling us about some cool local places to try and talking to us about Atlanta (where we're from). Super nice people. Would definitely stay here again.

My husband and toddler daughter recently stayed here for two nights for my sisters wedding. The staff was very accommodating. We had confirmed multiple times before we arrived that they would have a pack and play available for our stay. My mother arrived the day before me and checked again, and the were unable to find the pack and play, so the owner went out and bought a brand new one for us to use during our stay. We stayed in mansion 3 and the room was beautiful with high ceilings and plenty of space for us with our daughter. Most of the guests for the wedding stayed at the hotel and the courtyard and dining area were perfect for people to get together. Also, easy access to the St.Charles streetcar line.

We booked a room here last minute and got the penthouse. This is an old house that has been fixed up nicely and is Less than a mile from the French quarter. Our room was the converted attic space at the top of two staircases and we had our own rooftop patio. Excellent staff and a great breakfast of bacon and French toast. I wish we could have stayed an extra day.

My husband and I are regrettably on our way home from New Orleans and of the many wonderful things we did while visiting staying at Creole Gardens bed and breakfast was our best decision. The entire staff was amazing, warm and friendly, the room we stayed in was just beautiful and had so much character, we had a hard time motivating ourselves to get out and explore the city because it was so cozy there and the breakfasts Anne made were some of the best meals we've ever had! Additionally Creole Gardens is in a wonderful location in close proximity to the warehouse district, museums and the french quarter. The only downside to our stay was leaving and I can honestly say we will never stay anywhere else in New Orleans. So, If you're looking for a charming bed and breakfast, with a welcoming staff and delicious southern breakfasts each morning look no further!

If you visit New Orleans and don't get out of the French Quarter, you're missing something amazing: the chance to live in an authentic neighborhood among some of the warmest and most welcoming people you could ever hope to know. We spent a couple of days in the lovely Bywater district (downtown/downriver) then moved uptown to this unique bed-and-breakfast inn in the Lower Garden District. What a treat. Miss Annie aka Motown Queen Anne is in charge of the kitchen and is also a dj, spinning classic records on Friday nights and special occasions, like the Sunday art show and vintage clothing sale that took place while we were there. A wonderful lady named Andie, newly arrived in New Orleans to live near her daughter, greeted us at check-in and shared our wide-eyed enthusiasm about New Orleans and the neighborhood. Since we were staying longer than originally expected, and the inn was fully booked by people requesting specific rooms, we had to move once during our stay here but it was an opportunity to sample the place in two different moods. (Take their website's advice and book your room directly, by PHONE; the rooms are all so different, and an online booking service isn't going to give you all your options.) First we had Cottage 12. The "cottages" are actually rooms in the old servants' quarters ("dependency") behind the mansion, wrapping around three sides of a big communal courtyard. Cottage 12 was an airy, high-ceilinged space painted in cool blues and whites, so pretty! It can be a little noisy (sounds of early risers outside in the morning) and the white curtains don't do much to darken the room, so if you're a light sleeper you might mention that when selecting your room. Cottage 12 had a mini-fridge and like both of our rooms it was dog-friendly. The clawfoot tub really functions as a shower, since it has a shower-style drain. Our next room and hands-down favorite was the front downstairs room at the Bordello, a vintage two-story building next door. These rooms are each named for a famous New Orleans madam from the Streeterville era, and ours was Countess Willie Piazza's Hall of Splendor. Fist pump! It was fabulous: four poster bed curtained all around in wine-red lace, an old fireplace mantel, heavy curtains to tame the sun coming through tall windows, and a big, private front porch facing Prytania Street. The TV picture was a little fuzzy in this room, but who cares? The space was quiet, private and gorgeous. You can walk to a bunch of bars and restaurants on St Charles (Irish House is a wonderful place to chill) or walk deeper into the neighborhood down Prytania and discover some charming old homes and a sweet little park on Terpsichord. This is a mostly working-class community, not the Garden District of grand mansions, but we found that if you greet the people you meet on your local walks with "Good morning/good evening," you'll be greeted cordially.

Our stay at Creole Gardens this summer was a treat. They were able to accommodate our (very) late check in without a problem. Our suite was beautify decorated, had magnificent king size bed, and a back door that opened to the courtyard. Breakfast served was hot and fresh with something different every day. The staff was wonderful and helpful with tips for getting around the city and where the New Orleans hot spots were. We would absolutely stay here again if we make our way back to New Orleans.

We LOVED our stay here and I'm picky when it comes to where I'm staying. Our room (bordello 7) was spotless and SO cute! The place was peaceful and had so Much character. The staff is incredibly welcoming. Breakfast was awesome! (Bacon, eggs and shrimp and grits, plus bagels, toast, yogurt fruit and coffee and juice) I won't stay anywhere else in NOLA.

The quintessential New Orleans experience that you're looking for. The place is clean, quiet, warm and friendly. Breakfast is included and worth it. The rooms are charming and delightful. The location is in walking distance to shops, food, and booze. We enjoyed our stay and can't wait to come back.

LOVE THIS PLACE! Me and my now husband came to New Orleans to get married and we stayed at several different hotels to get a taste of all different areas of New Orleans and out of the 4 we stayed this is definitely my favorite. We stayed in the Bordello and our room was beautifully decorated , painted in a deep red color, big beautiful windows that open up to our private balcony...just amazing!! You really get a feel for the history and culture of the city here and that's what we wanted. To see the older historical buildings. The room was very clean and the breakfast was homemade and delicious! I cannot say enough great things! I wish I had booked my stay here for longer than 2 nights. I will definitely come back here for our anniversary! Thanks to everyone there, you are great people! If your looking to be uptight and picky then go elsewhere but you WILL miss out on this beautiful gem.

Creole Gardens had some really tasty breakfasts and was dog friendly, which was good. The staff was also really friendly. I think that this will be a nice place to stay someday when they finish renovating the rooms. As of right now, it's not fit to stay in. There was daylight coming in all around the front door, the door didn't shut properly, the tub was unbalanced (taking a shower was like trying to balance in a row-boat), the paint was peeling off the walls, and the whole place just felt like a work in progress...slow progress. Most unplesant, though, were the uninvited guests. We had two cockroaches join us during our stay...Not sure how many more would have shown up if we hadn't had our dog with us. When I showed the staff a picture of one of the roaches in our room he offered a partial refund of one night. So...stay here if you like roaches.

Shabby Chic, just like New Orleans Creole Gardens is a collection of buildings. There is the mansion house, a neighboring house that was a bordello, and a line of slaves' quarters called the cottages. We've stayed here a couple of times now on visits to New Orleans. The price is right, the location is great, there is easy parking, and breakfast is delicious. But, mostly, it just feels right for New Orleans. The old, wooden buildings, with fancy trim and floors that have settled into a comfortable slope just feel right. The mismatched furniture and slightly wonky fixtures are part of the charm. A big chain hotel usually seems like it could be anywhere in the world. The Creole Gardens is just right for New Orleans and could really be nowhere else.

Creole Gardens, like New Orleans, has a lot of ups and downs. It's an adorable BnB wedged in the edge of the Garden District. This provides easy access to the St. Charles trolley line, as well as good walking and even running, if you're so inclined. However, it seems somewhat close to downtown, which is why our neighbor early in the morning was a homeless woman sitting on the adjacent porch howling at cars and passerbys. That's not Creole Gardens' fault, but it does make getting dressed in the morning difficult when your every movement is punctuated by rasping shouting and gurgling insults. Our room was one of the older ones (as admitted by the manager), and set off aside from the main building. It was called "The Bordello" and was quite cute. Like a good BnB room, it felt lived in, comfortable and cozy. The bed was a beautiful four-post piece, and the bathroom was spacious and kitted out with all the things you need to wipe away the accumulated grime and smells of Bourbon St. Not all members of my travel party agreed. I thought the room had a generic room freshener smell, but someone insisted that the room reeked of urine. We also had to wrestle a little bit with a few things. One of the lamps was unplugged, and the power was back behind the bed in an inconvenient and hard to reach place. The bathroom was also a bit spotty. The sink and shower were in immaculate condition, but patches of the floor (especially in the corners) looked unswept and unmopped. The courtyard at the center of the BnB's complex is really beautiful, and every time I passed through there, strangers were chatting it up under fronds and enjoying drinks as the air cooled. The breakfast was also just good enough that it'd be well worth it to take your morning calories in there rather than go out and about and throw $10 down for a plate of eggs. The morning we were there, they served the regular continental fare, plus Creole potatoes, bacon and eggs. And the chicory coffee served was the best I had over the course of our stay in NOLA. Because one member of our travel party insisted on moving to a different hotel, we brought her complaints to the manager and pointed out what we felt was unsatisfactory with the room. The manager very, very generously refunded our remaining stays, and even discounted the total cost of the night we had stayed, acknowledging that the room we stayed in was overdue for some renovation. Although I still disagree with my travel partner's assessment, it is worth pointing out that even if you do have problems here, politely articulating them will get you a quick and fair solution. All in all, I'd definitely come back here with (different) friends. The area, the atmosphere and the vittles are all great ways to limn a trip to New Orleans.

This place was perfect for us- within budget but nice enough to feel "fancy." The best: Our room (cottage 12) was beautiful. Nice bed, full bath, seating, and fridge. Someone stayed in the office 5 mins after normal closing to check us in after we were stuck in traffic. Since they weren't busy, we got a free parking spot in their driveway. Very quiet. Why I didn't give 5 stars: We stayed 2 nights, but were informed after checking in that there would not be breakfast on the second day. No explanation, no offer to compensate us. We ended up eating at the Blue Plate and loving it, but really, it was disappointing to go to a B&B and not get breakfast.

Super cool B&B, the pet rate is out of this world. Only $15?! Couldn't believe it. Parking included is a huge plus. Anything closer to downtown, parking would cost you a lot. My room is small, one of the cottage rooms, but perfect for me and my dog. Exactly what I need. Staff is super nice to me and my dog. Awesome!

this b&b truly feels like a home away from home! my mom and i stayed at creole gardens for four nights in cottage 7. we arrived almost an hour before our eta and were greeted by a friendly face belonging to the staff member keith. he helped us to our room which was clean and bright. the room had a queen and full bed, mini fridge, large tv, and decently sized wardrobe. the room also had a large air conditioner which worked very well at keeping us cool. throughout our stay, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. breakfast was always fresh, delicious, and served quickly. the trolley line is only a few blocks away and the place is dog friendly! i highly recommend this b&b for the budget and/or pet conscious traveler.
